Creating a Classroom Culture of Kindness: Starting Our Day with Affirmations

Video Transcript:

“Hi, I’m Ms. Davis.

Today, I want to talk to you about a tool that I use in my classroom to start off the morning in a positive note. They’re called affirmations.

An affirmation for me is a positive statement, short statements that can be repeated by the child so that they can feel the impact of the words. It’s to create positive self-talk.

Here’s an example of one that I’ve created for the beginning of school. I am smart. I believe I can. I will dream. I am creative. I can do hard things. I have stamina. I will keep trying. Love Ms. Davis. And then we all say, ‘Love Ms. Davis’.

So this is an idea to help you and your child start off the day with a positive attitude and a positive way that they can have that inner voice saying positive statements to themselves.

Hope this helps, Love Ms. Davis.”
